Watson is a 10 yr old gelding standing around 16 hands. He is the most versatile horse on the ranch and  probably the most quiet.  He has been ridden exclusively by Dave Ellis since he was 2 years old. His registered name is AR Backfire.   He is by Red Fire who traces back to Storm Cat out of Dash for Ann who traces back to Dash for Cash. Although he has racing bloodlines, he prefers to take his time and wait for instructions.  He can move when asked; but will come right down to a walk.  He has the smoothest and most rythmic canter on the ranch. He has passed his Parelli Level-4, changes leads smoothly and with ease. He is excellent with his finesse. He is comfortable in a snaffle or hackamore, and is 2 years into the 2-rein vaquero style bridle work. Watson has worked in the branding pen dragging calves and yearlings.  He has helped Dave handle difficult horses many times. He has competed three times in Cowboy Dressage winning 2 blue ribbons in the Vaquero Challenge event considered by many to be the most difficult in the competition.  He has helped Dave numerous times at Parelli demonstrations with Pat Parelli challenging him.
